Take patient #1 for example. This patient apparently didn’t understand or didn’t care what appropriate social boundaries are.
We had to call a special response because the patient became irate after we asked their significant other to leave because they were attempting to get it on in the patient’s room. The patient was on special observational status, so this occurred in front of the sitter who was ensuring the patient’s safety.
I am not kidding.
It was one of those “who am I?” moments. I just can't believe this wasn't covered in nursing school. Thank goodness it wasn’t my patient for a change, and I only had to provide backup for the nurse.
